The initial product of the StEER response to the 2020 Oaxaca Mexico Earthquake is this Preliminary Virtual Reconnaissance Report (PVRR), which is intended to (1) Provide an overview of the main characteristics of the event; (2) Summarize the seismicity of this region of Mexico; (3) Provide a brief overview of seismic codes and construction practices in Mexico; (4) Summarize preliminary reports of damage to wide-range of structures and infrastructure; and (5) Provide some preliminary recommendations.
