In this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence and genetic characteristics of ESBL-producing Shigella isolates from diarrheal patients over a multi-year period starting from 2021. Special emphasis was placed on their association with azithromycin resistance and the underlying molecular determinants, in order to better understand the evolving antimicrobial resistance landscape and to inform public health interventions.
