The rapid evolution of wireless communication from 1G to 5G has transformed global connectivity, but the upcoming sixth generation (6G) is expected to enable unprecedented data rates, ultra-low latency, and massive device connectivity. Antennas are critical enablers of these advancements, yet current designs face challenges in efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness at higher frequencies.This study provides a comprehensive theoretical analysis of emerging antenna technologies for 6G, including phased array antennas, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), massive MIMO, and terahertz (THz) communication. It explores their operational principles, performance metrics, advantages, and limitations, with comparative tables illustrating key parameters. The paper also discusses applications in IoT, autonomous vehicles, holographic communication, and AI-assisted adaptive networks.The findings highlight future research directions for hybrid antenna architectures, energy-efficient designs, and intelligent adaptive control, aiming to guide researchers and practitioners in developing next-generation wireless communication systems.
