Coastal seawater was processed and investigated with 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Samples were collected during two North Sea phytoplankton spring blooms in 2017 and 2018. Particles were separated from the seawater samples using Imhoff sedimentation cones, centrifugation and sequential filtration. Enriched microbiomes included free-living motile chemotactic, as well as free-living non-motile bacteria and particle-attached bacteria. Sequenced unprocessed seawater was provided as reference microbiome for the different sampling days.
