Harmonized species-resolved dataset for estimating carbon sequestration by woody species in urban and peri-urban built environments of Cyprus
收藏资源简介:
This dataset provides a harmonized, species-resolved framework for assessing 40 woody taxa across 19 families relevant to urban and peri-urban built environments in Cyprus, with an emphasis on carbon-storage estimation and urban planting suitability. For each species it integrates taxonomic, ecological, morphological, and built-environment suitability traits with allometric parameters, root-to-shoot ratios, carbon fractions, proxy levels, data-support quality, and confidence classes. Information was consolidated from taxonomic and floristic checklists, ecological literature, wood-density references, IPCC defaults, and published allometric biomass studies. Where species-specific equations were unavailable, taxonomically related proxy equations were used and explicitly documented, moving from species to genus to family level. For each species the workbook returns above-ground biomass, below-ground biomass, total biomass, carbon stock, and baseline CO₂-equivalent storage, together with projected CO₂-equivalent estimates under standardized 25-year and 50-year diameter-growth scenarios (1, 2, and 3 percent per year from a common establishment diameter). Every carbon output is paired with an urban planting suitability class (Suitable, Conditional, or Unsuitable) and a confidence class (High ±10%, Medium ±25%, or Low ±40%) that reflects the strength of the underlying species-level evidence. This resource is a reproducible modelling workflow rather than a field-measurement dataset. No trees were measured directly; the values are compiled parameters or formula-based outputs computed from representative DBH inputs. The results are illustrative, assumption-based estimates intended for research, education, and methodological demonstration only, and should not be used for regulatory carbon accounting, offset claims, financial decisions, or any application requiring measured or audited carbon values.
