The study was conducted in tropical peatlands in the upper catchment of the Sebangau River near Palangkaraya, the capital city of Central Kalimantan province, Indonesia. In Central Kalimantan, a large peatland area was deforested and drained during the late 1990s, mainly to develop farmlands according to a national project: the Mega Rice Project (MRP). The site was a swamp forest; however, it was burnt in 1997 and 2002, El Nino years, and vegetation and surface peat soil were lost. A small tower of 4.0 m height was built at a distance of about 200 m from the canal in April 2004, when fern plants were sparsely re-growing and the ground was studded with small pools. Fern (Stenochlaena, Blechnum, and Lygodium spp.) and sedge (Cyperus, Scleria and Eleocharis spp.) plants had grown up to 0.5 m and covered most part of the ground in June 2005.There were no hummocks on the ground, because of destruction by fires. The peat depth was about 4 m. Fetches were about 250, 300, 1000, and 1000 m, respectively, for the west, south, north, and east directions.The turbulent fluxes of sensible heat, latent heat, CO2 were measured using the eddy covariance system.
本研究于印度尼西亚中加里曼丹省首府帕朗卡拉亚附近的塞邦加河上游集水区的热带泥炭地开展。20世纪90年代末,中加里曼丹境内大片泥炭地遭砍伐并疏干,主要为配合国家项目“巨型水稻计划(Mega Rice Project, MRP)”开发农田。 该研究位点原为沼泽森林,但在1997年与2002年(厄尔尼诺年份)发生火灾,植被及表层泥炭土壤均遭到破坏。2004年4月,在距离排水渠约200米处搭建了一座高4.0米的小型观测塔,彼时蕨类植物零星重新萌发,地面散布小型积水池。 至2005年6月,蕨类植物(包括Stenochlaena、Blechnum及Lygodium属物种)与莎草科植物(包括Cyperus、Scleria及Eleocharis属物种)已长至0.5米高,覆盖了大部分地面。因火灾破坏,地面无土丘分布。泥炭层厚度约为4米。 西、南、北、东四个方向的有效风程分别约为250米、300米、1000米与1000米。本研究采用涡动协方差系统(eddy covariance system)测定了感热通量、潜热通量及二氧化碳(CO₂)的湍流输送通量。
