Since the first reference genome of pigeon (<em>Columba livia</em>) was published in 2013, these resources rapid facilitated the development of pigeon related research. Nonetheless, the short-read of next-generation sequencing data were unable to span the greater genomic distances, resulting in draft contained many gaps, imperfections, and ambiguities. Here, we performed a combined strategy using PacBio, Illumina and Hi-C sequencing to generate a high-quality pigeon reference genome, and we predicted 18,660 protein-coding genes.
