Multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus haemolyticus in broiler meat: first report and genomic insights

This study reports the isolation and whole-genome sequencing of a multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus haemolyticus strain recovered from retail broiler chicken meat in Bangladesh. The isolate was identified using phenotypic, molecular, and genome-based approaches. Whole-genome sequencing was performed to investigate genomic features, antimicrobial resistance determinants, virulence-associated genes, and mobile genetic elements, providing insights into the potential role of broiler meat as a reservoir of antimicrobial-resistant S. haemolyticus.
