资源简介:
Communities of bacteria colonize algae cell surfaces and produce a variety of compounds, including vitamins and nutrients, that can impact the fitness of the host. These bacteria and their host interactions have been studied via culturing, single-gene diversity, and metagenomic read surveys. However, these methods are limited by culturing biases and fragmented genetic characterizations and often overlook the community context of these interactions. A higher-resolution genomic framework is needed to resolve the physiological interactions within these complex algal-bacterial communities. Here, we inferred the metabolic capabilities of uncultured bacterial genomes (obtained using metagenomic assembly and binning) associated with the marine microalgae Gambierdiscus carolinianus and G. caribaeus.
