INSULIN RESISTANCE AS A KEY FACTOR IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF METABOLIC SYNDROME

Insulin resistance is one of the most important metabolic disturbances underlying metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is characterized by decreased sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin action, which leads to impaired glucose metabolism and compensatory hyperinsulinemia. Insulin resistance plays a central role in the development of obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study is to analyze the mechanisms of insulin resistance and its role in the development of metabolic syndrome. The article discusses current scientific data on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of insulin resistance. Early identification and correction of insulin resistance are essential for preventing metabolic and cardiovascular complications.
