In this study, we sought to determine how P and the plant's response to changes in soil P availability affect the root-associated fungal microbiota of the non-mycorrhizal species A. thaliana. Using amplicon sequencing of the fungal ITS2 taxonomic marker we followed the responses of root-associated fungal communities to short-term soil P amendments and observed large differences in root and rhizosphere fungal assemblages.
