Genome annotation (repeats, ncRNAs, and protein-coding genes) of

<i>Chrysomya megacephala</i> is a forensically significant insect capable of accurately locating corpses and laying eggs in complex environments, serving as a crucial indicator for estimating the minimum postmortem interval (PMI). Current research on this species primarily focuses on traditional morphology, biological characteristics, and community succession patterns. However, the lack of high-quality genomic and transcriptomic data has left the host localization mechanisms of <i>Chrysomya megacephala</i> unresolved. Here, we report a chromosome-level genome assembly of <i>Chrysomya megacephala</i>. Using PacBio HiFi long reads and Hi-C data, we assembled a genome of 629.44 Mb with 97.05% of the assembly located in 5 chromosomes. Our assembly contains 97 scaffolds, with the scaffold N50 length of 121.37 Mb.
