Data for: A Synthesis of Stomatal Sensitivity to ABA Across Species and Experiments

Scope: This repository contains the data supporting the findings presented in the manuscript currently under review, entitled 'A Synthesis of Stomatal Sensitivity to ABA Across Species and Experiments'. It includes the digitized and processed data used in the analyses, figures, and tables described in the main manuscript and supplementary material. Important notice: Small changes were made in version 3, while still keeping the scope of the research. Changes and corrections are described further below. Contents: 1) Digitized data from published studies: abscisic acid concentrations, stomatal conductance, and water potential in the root, leaf, and shoot. 2) A metadata summary describing species names, reference details, and descriptive information. 3) Statistical results, including stomatal sensitivity to abscisic acid, R-squared values, and empirical cumulative distribution function (EDF) statistics. Note: Cells or tabs highlighted in pale yellow are datasets that were digitized but not included in the analysis. These represent datasets in which multiple treatments were applied simultaneously. What is new - Version 3: 1) Two supplementary figures have been added, along with additional descriptions. Supplementary figures are now shared as an individual PDF document. 2) Typos were corrected in the Metadata. Version 2: 1) Additional datasets of abscisic acid, stomatal conductance, and water potential data points are digitized. 2) Additional qualitative information is included for all datasets: unit conversion notes, classification of stomatal conductance instruments, description of water potential measurements, description of abscisic acid measurement tissues, categories as described in the paper, and how abscisic acid was applied. 3) Expanded model results and additional summaries of statistics are included. Corrections from version 1: Given the increase in qualitative and quantitative detail in version 2, we have adapted the old dataset (v.1) to this new version (v.2). Refined: certain datasets from the original were improved (reclassified in more detail, and additional water potential measurements were included when available). The following papers were adjusted accordingly: Tenhunen et al., 1994, Dodd et al., 2008, Niinemets et al., 1999, Borel et al., 2001, Loewenstein et al., 1998, Liu et al., 2006, Liu et al., 2003, Liang et al., 1996, Jensen et al., 2009, Castro et al., 2019, Puértolas et al., 2013, Hartung et al., 1993, Liu et al., 2005b, Nolan et al., 2017, Tardieu et al., 1993). Removal: We further limited our research by removing datasets that included dry weight measurements (Puértolas et al., 2015, Rothwell et al., 2015, Tombesi et al., 2015, Yao et als., 2021), or when we could not distinguish the groupings (Correia, et al., 1995). Corrections: Four unit scaling errors were found. These were re-digitized and corrected accordingly: Liu et al., 2001, Boyle et al., 2016b, Fort et al., 1998, Ebel et al., 1997.
