The ALCAM is a linguistic atlas project initiated by Patrice Brasseur in the 1980s, including 82 survey points from Bray-Dunes in French Flandre to Ciboure in French Pays Basque. The questionnaire consists of 400 questions concerning the description of the coast and marine elements, navigation, fishing, marine fauna and flora. In Brittany, about 20 surveys have been conducted by Jean Ropars and others since 1983, coordinated by Jean Le Dû, who was a professor of Celtic at the University of Brest at the time.
