PlantAI – Stereo Camera Calibration

Introduction

This dataset contains the geometric calibration of the stereo camera system used to acquire the PlantAI stereo image dataset. The calibration enables photogrammetric reconstruction from the synchronized left- and right-camera images published as the PlantAI image datasets.

The calibration was performed using a dedicated target-based calibration procedure after completion of the field campaign. Four camera models based on the Brown–Conrady lens distortion model are provided together with complete documentation of the calibration methodology and results.

Camera Model 10 is recommended for most photogrammetric applications, providing an appropriate balance between geometric accuracy and model complexity.

Calibration files

The software-independent text files contain coordinate system definitions, camera projection equations, intrinsic camera parameters, lens distortion coefficients, camera poses, stereo geometry, and calibration quality measures. All geometric quantities are expressed in millimetres (mm), while intrinsic camera parameters are expressed in pixels.

The accompanying XML files contain equivalent calibration parameters in a format directly compatible with Agisoft Metashape.
