Growth curve analysis of Shewanella haliotis ATCC 49138 in different culture media

This dataset presents time-series optical density data describing the growth of Shewanella haliotis ATCC 49138 cultivated in liquid media. Bacterial growth was monitored during batch cultures grown on three different media: nutrient broth (NB), nutrient broth supplemented with salts (NB+S), and marine broth (MB). The dataset includes optical density values measured at 565 nm and reported as McFarland units using a DEN-1 densitometer. Based on a calibration curve established between McFarland standards and spectrophotometric absorbance, corresponding OD600 values were calculated. The calibration was derived using measurements obtained with a DEN-1 densitometer and a Hach DR3900 spectrophotometer.
The dataset further includes background-corrected absorbance values (OD_net) calculated from the derived OD600 data, recorded at multiple time points for each medium and replicate. In addition, reference data linking McFarland standards with optical density and absorbance values, as well as a table summarizing the composition of the culture media, are provided. The data enable reconstruction and comparison of bacterial growth curves across media and replicates based on time-resolved optical density information.
