Extraction dataset: Commercial dependence in distributed energy system modelling – a systematic review of software use, 2020–2026

This workbook contains the extraction dataset of a PRISMA 2020 systematic review of the software applied in published research on distributed energy systems (microgrids, mini-grids, off-grid and stand-alone systems). From 731 Scopus records (search date 2 July 2026), 275 applied studies published between January 2020 and July 2026 were included. For each study the applied software tools, their licence category, the geographical context, the system type and size, the research objective and the first-author affiliation were coded. All counts and cross-tabulations in the article are computed from the Extraction sheet by formula.
