LEXICAL GAPS IN ADJECTIVE COMPARISON BETWEEN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

This study explores lexical gaps in adjective comparison between English and Uzbek, focusing on how linguistic differences influence translation, language acquisition, and comprehension. Lexical gaps occur when one language lacks a direct equivalent for a word or grammatical structure in another, creating challenges for expressing nuanced meanings. By examining both basic and complex comparative and superlative adjectives, this research highlights the ways these gaps shape communication and learning strategies. The study integrates corpus analysis, bilingual speaker surveys, and observational research to provide a holistic understanding of how these gaps manifest in practical contexts. It also investigates pedagogical implications for teaching English in Uzbek-speaking environments and strategies for translators to preserve semantic accuracy and naturalness.
