Adjusted Urban Areas

This dataset provides a standardized, authoritative national representation of adjusted urban areas to support FHWA programs and policies. It is intended for use by transportation planners, analysts, policy makers, and engineers at federal, state, and local levels. The adjusted urban areas are used to define boundaries for urban/rural functional classification, determine project eligibility under various federal programs, and assist in long-range planning and transportation performance monitoring.
