VPRS 12941 Register of Prisoners Received and Discharged

Series comprises the register of prisoners received and discharged at the Western Gaol. On reception at the gaol the personal details of every prisoner received was recorded in this register. For each prisoner the following details are recorded:- gaol number (not the prisoner number from VPRS 515)- name- arrived ship- year- year of birth- condition on arrival (free or bond)- former colonial convictions- personal description (height, weight, eye colour, hair colour, build etc)- education- particular marks- native place- religion- trade or calling- date admitted- from where- purpose- offence- date of conviction- sentence- how disposed ofVPRS 12941/P1 was previously registered as VPRS 521 unit 4. It was reserialised in 2002.Researchers should note that VPRS 12941/P1 unit 1 is closed under section 11(2) of the Public Records Act for preservation reasons.
