Our study aims to understand whether the Arabidopsis SPIRRIG (SPI) protein is a general or specific regulator of Arabidopsis transcriptional salt stress response. Its functional relevance in this context is indicated as the SPI protein is localizing to P-bodies in a salt stress dependent manner while spi mutants display salt hypersensitivity and the loss of salt stress induced mRNA processing body formation.
