miRNA profiles were investigated in healthy young males before and after bed rest and subsequently after retraining. We examined miRNA expression profiles in skeletal muscle from 56 healthy young males before and after nine days of bed rest and again after a four-week endurance-training program. We identified deregulated miRNAs in skeletal muscle samples from individuals born with normal birth weight (NBW, n=20) and two groups with predisposition to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); individuals born with low birth weight (LBW, n=19) and first degree relatives (REL, n=11) to patients with Type 2 Diabetes
