The soil microorganisms of the riparian forest zone

The montane riparian forests provide important ecosystem services for human beings and show a wide variety of vegetation succession time series. In this study, we selected five typical vegetation communities under different habitat conditions in the riparian zone of the Loess Plateau of China, representing the secondary successional time-sequence stages (SI: grassland; SII: shrub; SIII: pioneer forest; SIV: late successional forest; SV: top successional forest). We used 16S and ITS rDNA Illumina sequencing technologies to investigate the changes in microbial structure and diversity with secondary succession and habitat conditions.
