LGBTQ Europe: situation where last experience of discrimination took place 2019

Within the European Union, the most common situation in which LGBT people report to have experienced discrimination in is when being in a cafe, restaurant, or nightclub. The experience of being discriminated at in social situation such as in a restaurant or shop is more commonly reported in countries where LGBT individuals tend to report less experiences of discrimination overall, while countries which report higher levels of discrimination tend to report more cases of discrimination in formal situations, such as at work, university, or while seeking healthcare services. This is likely because countries which have more stringent legal protections for LGBT individuals tend to discourage discrimination in situations, such as the workplace, where these protections are easily enforced.
