Rhizosphere soil depth, soil physicochemical properties and microbial dynamics in two Peruvian superfood trees, custard apple and lucuma, using PacBio-HiFi sequencing

We analyzed the bacteriological structure at three depths (3 cm, 12 cm, and 30 cm) in two native fruit trees: Annona cherimola (custard apple) and Pouteria lucuma (lucuma). They offer nutritional benefits because they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. We used Pacbio HiFi long-read high-throughput sequencing to explore the composition, diversity, and functions of bacterial communities in the rhizosphere of cherimoya and lucuma at different soil depths.
