资源简介:
Amine sorbents are pivotal to carbon capture, and the nature of the amine is shown to affect CO2 binding mechanisms. FT-IR has previously been used to explore the chemistry between amines and CO2, but spectral deconvolution is very challenging making assignment of bands difficult, limiting the information gained. To gain a higher level of understanding for the precise interactions of hydrogenous species, and environments of these species, a more clear understanding is required. We therefore propose to contrast the vibrational spectra achieved from inelastic neutron scattering (INS) for these amine systems both before and after CO2 dosing to achieve a holistic view of the processes involved in CO2 capture and the influence of the amine. This highly novel study would represent a significant step forward in the use of neutron scattering for carbon capture research.
