Supplementary Material for: Recurrent Subretinal Hemorrhage in a Patient Taking a Turmeric Supplement Case Report

This case report highlights the importance of knowing what non-prescription medications and supplements are being taken by patients in addition to their prescribed medications. Our patient was a myopic male who developed a vitreous hemorrhage and was subsequently found to have a retinal detachment. He had an unusual postoperative course because his retinal detachment kept recurring and was associated with retinal hemorrhages. Eventually, he was sent to his primary care physician for a thrombotic work-up. The workup was negative and all his dietary supplements, including turmeric, were discontinued. Finally, at post-op month 2, he started to improve with resolving subretinal hemorrhage and an attached retina.
