Haemophilus parainfluenzae (Hp) is a Gram-negative facultative anaerobic bacterium that colonizes the oral cavity and the upper respiratory tract.H. parainfluenzae is a member of the HACEK group and an opportunistic pathogen. Here, we report the genome sequence of H. parainfluenzae strain EL1 isolated from the supragingival plaque of a healthy individual in Rhode Island, United States of America. This strain was chosen due to its highly transformable nature and used as a representative commensal bacterium of the oral microbiota.
