Replication Dataset for "Institutional Confinement and Labour-Market Exclusion of Afghan Forced Migrants: A Comparative Analysis of Host-Country Contexts".......02000

This dataset is associated with the research manuscript "Institutional Confinement and Labour-Market Exclusion of Afghan Forced Migrants: A Comparative Analysis of Host-Country Contexts." The data set consists of 105 country-year observations in 7 host country contexts: Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Iran, and Pakistan for the period 2010-2024. The unit of analysis is the country-year. The data set includes the employment-to-population ratio, asylum rate, refugee rate, returnee rate, GDP growth, unemployment rate, informal employment, and a legal access indicator. The Legal Access indicator combines MIPEX-based labor-market mobility measures for Germany, France, Italy, Greece, and Sweden with researcher-constructed indicators for Iran and Pakistan (see the accompanying SOURCE_CODING_NOTE.txt file). The dataset was compiled from secondary sources, namely the World Bank, ILOSTAT, UNHCR, IOM, and MIPEX-related information. The accompanying README, data dictionary, source and coding note, and suggested citation provide the information needed to understand and replicate the analysis. The dataset is intended to enable transparency and reproducibility of the empirical analysis reported in the associated paper. The data are country-level indicators and should not be interpreted as individual-level observations of Afghan migrants.
