Whole Metagenome Sequencing of Aquaculture Pond Sediment Microbiota

This study investigates the microbial diversity and functional potential of sediment samples collected from aquaculture ponds in Tamil Nadu, India. Using whole metagenome sequencing (WMS), we explored taxonomic composition, metabolic functions, and the presence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in sediment-associated microbial communities. The findings provide insights into microbial ecology and the potential environmental dissemination of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in aquaculture ecosystems.
