Orientia tsutsugamushi strain:Karp Genome sequencing

Orientia tsutsugamushi is a Gram-negative, obligately intracellular bacterium and the etiological agent of scrub typhus, a life-threatening mite-borne zoonosis. Here, we report the full-length genome sequence of O. tsutsugamushi str. Karp obtained from the Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION instrument. Our sequencing of the entire genome as a single contig further confirms the assembly and annotation of a prototype strain of an clinically important and seriously neglected bacterial pathogen.
