POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE LAMB SPRINGS SITE, COLORADO

Pollen and macrofloral analyses at the Lamb Springs site on the plains near Denver, Colorado focused on the interpretation of paleoenvironmental conditions. Marshy plants were dominant in the immediate vicinity of the springs and included grasses and sedges during the earliest levels tested. The riparian community associated with the spring changed to a sumpweed dominated situation during the Cody occupation. Significant differences in long distance transport of pine pollen from the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains to the west were not visible in the pollen record.
