资源简介:
Marinomonas primoryensis isolated from a brackish lake (Ace Lake) in Antarctica is a Gram-negative, psychrophilic bacterium. M. primoryensis is the first documented example of a bacterium that naturally binds to ice, which places it within the high-nutrient upper strata (phototrophic zone) of its aquatic habitat. Microscopy suggests that these organisms form biofilm-like clusters on the ice surface. Work in our lab has shown that M. primoryensis uses an ice-binding adhesion protein called MpAFP to attach itself to ice. From the sequence of the M. primoryensis genome, we will identify MpAFP accessory proteins involved in secretion and membrane attachment, search for other potential adhesins that may be involved in biofilm formation, and other biofilm-associated proteins, such as those for exopolysaccharide synthesis, amyloid production and quorum sensing.
