This article provides a comprehensive source-critical and historiographical analysis of the Bashkir people's role in the Peasant War (1773–1775) led by E.I. Pugachev. The study examines official documents from the RGADA and GAOO archives, specifically focusing on Pugachev's manifestos and Salavat Yulaev's appeals. Conceptual approaches of Imperial, Soviet, and contemporary historiographies are comparatively evaluated to highlight the academic novelty. The findings contribute to an objective assessment of the ethno-social characteristics of the war and the internal dynamics of the Bashkir military-political alliance.
