WORLD Childcare Leave during COVID-19 2020

The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) is committed to improving the quantity and quality of globally comparative data available to policymakers, citizens, civil society, and researchers on laws and policies that work to support human rights, including economic opportunity, social and civic engagement, human health, development, well-being, and equity. The WORLD Childcare Leave during COVID-19 2020 dataset was created to assess progress on laws that enabled working parents to balance work and caregiving during COVID-19-related childcare and school closures through a systematic review of legislation governing paid leave for childcare across 182 UN countries from March through September 2020. The dataset covers policies in place in March 2019 prior to the pandemic, policies introduced or expanded during the pandemic, and key features of paid leave policies, including duration, wage replacement rate, and financing.
