Many French regions are known for their traditional culinary specialty. While meals, dishes, and desserts are usually the first to come to mind, biscuits and cakes are also part of the French food heritage. Sometimes, these delicacies even gain international recognition. Between 2014 and 2022, the annual consumption per capita of biscuits has been slowly going down: it went from almost 7 kilograms in 2014 to 5 kilograms in 2022. Conversely, the per capita consumption of cakes has been very slightly increasing during that period.
