An unexpected Scalopini mole (Talpidae, Mammalia) from the Pliocene of Europe sheds light on the phylogeny of talpids

Various morphological characters, including dentition, mandible, and postcranial elements, were instrumental in the identification of this specimen as a new genus and species.
