Apartment and residential status. Settlement structure and social structure context of the apartment and its evaluation. Economic background. Mobility. Inner-city development and rural infrastructure.

Topics: Place of residence: city size; living outside or within the city centre; own inner-city location; year of the move in the city as well as the present apartment; satisfaction with the community (scalometer); duration of residence in the current apartment; residential status.

Rental costs: assessment of the rental costs; owner of the rented apartment (city, employer, etc.).

Home ownership: type of acquisition of ownership; use of government aid.

Housing equipment and building: size of the apartment in m²; number of residential spaces; assessment of the size of the dwelling; construction period; modernisation of the house since 1990; type of building; condition of the building.

Satisfaction (scalometer): with the dwelling, with the immediate residential environment, with the neighbourhood, with the environmental conditions and with the appearance of the street of the residential area.

Residential area and social structure: Description of the residential environment as well as the residential area; structure of the residential area; assessment of the constructional condition of the residential area; measures to redesign the residential area in the last few years; change in the appearance of the street; selected facilities (shopping facilities, schools, cultural facilities, etc.) in the residential area; improvement of these facilities in recent years (scalometer); image of the residential area; subjectively perceived population composition in the residential area; selected activities the respondent practices in the residential environment (scale).

Perception of the coexistence of Germans and foreigners: relationship between Germans and foreigners in the living environment; preference for the separation of neighborhoods of Germans and foreigners; German citizenship.

Relocation mobility: intention to relocate; reason for relocation; new place of residence; relocation preference city or country; preferred place of residence in a big city; preference for an old or new district.

Quality of life in the place of residence: respondents in large and medium-sized cities: duration from own home to the city centre; assessment of selected aspects of the city centre (traffic, shopping facilities, cultural offers etc.) (scalometer); occasion for city centre visits; desirable changes in the city centre; attitudes towards the
inner city (scale); satisfaction with the inner city (scale).
Respondents in small towns and rural communities: distance to the centre of the nearest city; evaluation of selected supply offers (scale: leisure, culture, transport, shopping, accommodation); occasion for a visit to the next larger city; preferred desired changes in the community; satisfaction with the the supply and supply situation and the centre of the region (scalometer).

Economic situation: assessment of one´s own economic situation; real estate ownership; current employment; job security; number of cars in the household.

Demography: sex; age in years; marital status; household composition; employment status; occupation (full-time/part-time); occupational position; school-leaving certificate; vocational or University education; household size; number of persons in household under 6 years, from 6 to 13 years, from 14 to 17 years, over 18 years and from the age of 65; number of income earners in the household; household net income; employment status of household members; life satisfaction (scalometer).
