Land Adjacent to Islington Lane, Winster, Derbyshire. Historic Building Recording (OASIS ID: archaeol5-391136)

Archaeological Research Services Ltd was commissioned by Asa Richard Cooper to undertake a historic building recording of a barn on land adjacent to Islington Road. The historic building recording was undertaken to discharge condition 9 of the planning permission prior to conversion of the building for domestic use. The barn off of Islington Road, Winster was constructed in the 19th century and was utilised well into the 20th century as an outfarm. It is bounded on its eastern side by Islington Road and on its north and western sides by a courtyard. Another, modern structure is situated to the north of the building. The barn itself has been constructed in four phases, with the initial construction of the barn and two subsequent extensions in the 19th century. A lean-to has been added to the northern elevation of the building, which was likely inserted in the 20th century.
