Development of an instrument to measure the use and perceptions of digital health applications in Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia: a pilot survey study of feasibility and acceptability

This study sought to develop and pilot-test a questionnaire to measure digital health (DH) use and perspectives on DH apps in Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The investigators developed a 40-item questionnaire based on a review of relevant literature and content validity was assessed by a team of experts. Modifications were made to the questionnaire and an additional 7 items were included in the pilot questionnaire to seek feedback on the instrument itself. Participants were recruited through snowball sampling. A total of 55 complete responses from Australia (n=16), Indonesia (n=17), and Malaysia (n=22) were collected. 93% of respondents (n=51) were generally satisfied with the questionnaire. The average reported time to complete the questionnaire was 9.2 minutes (SD=3.46). Internal reliability was found to be acceptable. Feasibility and acceptability were also demonstrated. The revised questionnaire will be used for a larger-scale study.
