農平地林業生產專區 Establishment of forestry production areas in agricultural land

本計畫於苗栗建立短伐期樹種造林示範區,以不同栽植密度與樹種混植,將以此示範區為基礎建構良好的育林技術與經營體系以生產多用途產品,吸引更多農民投入造林,更多不同產業包括造林業、合板業與生技業投資,以逐漸凝聚產業群落,進而形成林業生產專區。在花蓮試區,選擇生長快速的泡桐與山麻黃進行3公頃林地造林。強颱侵襲台灣,桉樹與造林闊葉樹種風倒嚴重,但泡桐仍穩定成長。2017年,建立1.3公頃的雜交泡桐雙親後裔試驗與山黃麻的種源後裔試驗,調查3生產專區林木生長,包括桉樹3種8營養系,泡桐類2種,樟屬2種5營養系,及6種固氮樹種,以泡桐最適合在花蓮,並持續生長調查追蹤。其中以泡桐、山黃麻在後續研究中,以高生物量作為選拔依據,重點式的進行調查研究。同時選育生長情況良好的泡桐與山黃麻營養系,建立組織培養繁育體系,目前泡桐類選育出7個優良品系,山黃麻選育出5個優良品系,未來將擴大種植,並且進行泡桐大徑木生產研究。 A 5-ha demo plantation was established in Miaoli where planted 9 tree species with different planting densities and mixed different species. This project tried to do the better silvicultural techniques and management to obtain more multipurpose products such as the profits from the valuable woody products, attracting more farmers do afforestation and lumbering, and biotech investment. At Hualien area, Paulownia and Trema orientalis grew rapidly and show greater wind resistance. We established these two species at a 3 ha of plantation where Eucalyptus trees were destroyed by typhoon. Two strong typhoons attacked Taiwan, that year, Eucalypt and broadleaf tree species fell seriously in our fields. Paulownia grew steadily, suggesting that might be a good choice in Hualien. In 2017, we established a 1.3 ha plantation composed with a full-sib progeny test for Paulownia hybrids and progeny and provenance test for T. orientalis. Investigating tree growth at 3 plantations including 3 species and 8 clones of Eucalyptus, 2 species of Paulownia, 2 species and 5 clones of Cinnamomum, and 6 species of nitrogen fixing trees, P. fortunei was suitable to grow in Hualien and will furthur investigation in the future. At the same time, the clones of these species with good growth conditions were selected and the suitable tissue culture system was established. At present, 7 excellent clones were selected from Paulownia, and 5 excellent clones were selected from T. orientalis. In the future, planting will be expanded, and large diameter wood production research will be conducted.
