Poultry meat is the most common source of protein of animal origin for human consumption worldwide. However, extensive breeding of animals in close proximity has led to their colonisation with microbiota which have zoonotic potential and/or antibiotic resistance. In this study we were therefore interested in the fecal microbiota composition by culture-independent protocols such as 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing in both egg laying hens and broilers originating from 4 different Central European countries
