资源简介:
"Current survey based dataset incorporates a structured survey-based study on functional workplace justice and menstrual health among the working women in India. A total of 300 participants were selected so that they reflect a variety of socio-demographic backgrounds, employment, awareness and lived experiences at the workplace pertaining to menstruation. The dataset is organised according to four major dimensions: demographic characteristics, awareness and knowledge, experiences at work, and coping mechanisms with support systems The distribution of demographic details show that a significant number of respondents (69.67%) were from the age group of 25-45 years which is considered the core working population. A majority lived in urban (63.00%) and metropolitan areas (22.33%), some of which had professional and domestic jobs balanced - 77.33% were married. Educational attainment was significantly high, with more than 89% with at least a master or professional degree and 93% are working in various sectors such as education, private organizations, and self-employment. Despite this, only 26.67% of them said they had knowledge of the existence of menstruation-related policies in their workplaces. In terms of awareness, over more half of the respondents (54.67%) were not aware of the key legislative developments such as the Menstrual Benefit Bill, 2017 and the Right to Menstrual Leave Bill, 2022. However, there was solid support for policy intervention with 83.33% in favor of the implementation of a period leave and 78.67% in favor of special legislation protection. Most of the respondents (59%) were aware of the multi-dimensional necessity of menstrual leave which is associated with pain, poor facilities, and psychological stress. Important issues in the workplace can also be identified from the dataset. A majority of the women observed decreased work performance during menstrual period (36.67% moderate, 21% significant decrement). It is noteworthy that 62.33% reported that they faced some discrimination or humiliation for menstrual-related problems; and 63.67% did not receive any support from the workplace. From the point of view of management and support, most of the respondents (70.33%) did not depend on medicine but emotional and psychological impacts were very prominent, with 69% of the respondents adequate with increased stress. Family support was limited with 55.67% not receiving any assistance from family. Even in the hypothetical case of a menstrual leave, a significant proportion said they would use this leave for their household duties and not to rest, thus emphasizing the presence of old gender roles. Overall, this dataset would be a useful source for various empirical understandings of the intersection between menstrual health, workplace conditions, and functional justice. It is an important resource for researchers, policymakers and practice organisations who seek to craft inclusive labour policies, better workplace environments and address gender sensitive health issues in developing economies. "
