Coordination between host and microbiome gene expression to shape calcifying fluid chemistry in the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica)

This project investigates host and microbiome gene expression in the calcifying fluid of the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) during exposure to seawater chemistry changes that mimic a tidal cycle. Oysters were sampled at five timepoints spanning a full tidal cycle, with concurrent measurements of carbonate chemistry in both the seawater and calcifying fluid. The resulting transcriptomic data provide insight into the dynamic regulation of biomineralization and host-microbe interactions under fluctuating pH conditions.
