Today’s learners learn from various online and offline sources in self-directed as well as instructor led environment. They are faced with the challenge of managing variety and volume of information that they are exposed to because of the proliferation of various knowledge resources. Nevertheless, the acquisition of information, analyzing it and applying the knowledge depends upon the learner’s maturity level, preparedness and nature of the subject. The researchers tried to understand how the effectiveness of self-directed learning and instructor led learning varies with the above-mentioned parameters. The researchers have used the method of experiment with first and second year post graduate students at a business school to investigate what determines the learning effectiveness in self-directed and instructor led learning environment.
