Alternative splicing (AS) is found to be a fundamental regulatory process in all higher eukaryotes and can significantly increase the genome complexity and proteome diversity. Goats are now used as animal models for biomedical research, to investigate the genetic basis of complex traits and in the transgene production of peptide medicines. However, the AS landscape of goat is not been explored to date. Here, we sequenced 60 samples from different development stages and tissues of Hainan Black goat using high-throughput RNA sequencing to identification and analysis of goat AS landscape for the first time.
