The Mummification of General Relativity — A Deep Philosophical Scrutiny of Modern Physics

This paper presents a systematic philosophical critique of General Relativity (GR) not as a collection of empirical anomalies, but as a fundamentally unscientific enterprise that has been institutionally preserved despite categorical falsication across multiple domains. We demonstrate that GR violates basic principles of scientic methodology through: (1) methodological inversion (speculation preceding observation), (2) fundamental human incomprehensibility requiring mathematical rationalization as substitute for understanding, (3) internal logical contradictions regarding orbital geometry and scalar composition, (4) systematic failure under increased observational resolution, (5) empirical refutation by magnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and cosmology, and (6) institutional protection through ad hoc inventions (dark matter/energy) while rejecting observable alternatives (ether). We argue that GR functions not as science but as institutionalized dogma — a mummified relic preserved for its symbolic power rather than its explanatory validity. The theory's century-long immunity to falsification, despite mounting contradictory evidence, represents a pathological state in physics that prevents genuine scientific progress. We conclude by examining why institutional physics maintains simultaneous operational reliance on Newtonian mechanics while invoking Einsteinian legitimation — a theoretical schizophrenia that reveals GR's function as narrative rather than science.
