Since the early 1970s the European Commission´s Standard & Special Eurobarometer are regularly monitoring the public opinion in the European Union member countries. Principal investigators are the Directorate-General Communication and on occasion other departments of the European Commission or the European Parliament. Over time, candidate and accession countries were included in the Standard Eurobarometer Series. Selected questions or modules may not have been surveyed in each sample. Please consult the basic questionnaire for more information on country filter instructions or other questionnaire routing filters. In this study the following modules are included: 1. Vocational education and training, 2. Social situation and expectations, 3. Family Planning, 4. Internal security, 5. Climate change.<br>Topics: 1. Vocational education and training: the highest level of education (ISCED) of the respondent and his parents; sector of the profession; participation in a vocational education or training; important factors for the own school, university and vocational education (residence; costs, reputation of the school, institution or employer, personal interest, future employment opportunities, type of education, training duration); counselor for educational decisions (parents, friends, teachers, guidance counselors, principals, professional person); adequate counseling about career and educational opportunities from schools and employment services; used sources of information in educational decision; own recommendation to visit a higher education institution (secondary school or university); image of the national vocational education and training; attitude towards training or retraining (scale); assessment of the probability of setting people with vocational training compared to individuals with higher education; assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of vocational education and training (scale); assessment of intra-European labor market opportunities for people with vocational training.
2. Social situation and expectations: life satisfaction; assessment of the current situation and expected development of social security systems, living costs, energy, housing costs, social interaction, poverty, public administration, economy and labor market in the own country as well as the personal job situation, the financial situation of the household, and the employment situation in the country (scale); comparison of the current situation with five years ago.
3. Family Planning: ideal number of children for a family as well as for the respondent personally; number of own children; intended number of own children; certainty of intended number of children; desire for children in the next three years.
4. Internal security: most important challenges to the national internal security, the security of EU citizens, and the internal security of the EU (crime, terrorism, cybercrime, insecurity of EU borders, natural and man-made disasters); sufficient measures of of the EU and the own country to fight crime, terrorism, cybercrime, secure EU borders and manage natural and manmade disasters; assessment of the relationship between the EU´s internal security and developments outside the EU; main EU partner for internal security in the EU.
5. Climate change: the most important global problem; assessment of climate change as a serious problem (scale); responsibility for combating climate change (national government, EU, government, business, individuals); tackling climate change boosts the economy; taxation should be based on the use of energy; personal contribution to combating climate change; personal action on climate change; applicable use of renewable energy sources; efficient future use of renewable energy sourcescompared to the present; assessment of the future use (2050) of fuels or renewable energy to power cars.
Demography: nationality; family situation and marital status; age at end of education; sex; age; occupation; professional position; type of community; household composition and household size; own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; possession of durable goods; financial difficulties during the last year; self-rated social position (scale); Internet use (at home, at work, at school).
Also encoded was: date of interview; beginning of interview; duration of interview; persons present during the interview; willingness to cooperate; city size; region; language of the interview; weighting factor; interviewer-ID.
