The major goal of this research is to find out the host cellular factors that are associated with VMV infection and lesions, using a gene expression microarray technology. Overall design: For gene expression microarray analysis, a total of 15 Rasa sheep were included, belonging to a herd located in Zaragoza (Spain). 11 of the animals were infected with VMV, 6 had lung lesions and 5 were seropositive for VMV but asymptomatic. The remaining 4 animals were seronegative for VMV
