This thesis develops techniques to prevent electromagnetic interference from hampering wireline communication systems. High-speed wireline communication is used in data centers, forming the backbone of today's electronic systems. Electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources may corrupt data on wireline communication channels. Pulse amplitude modulation 4 (PAM-4) is a promising modulation scheme used in high-speed wireline communication. In the thesis, we have developed circuit-level solutions to design robust wireline communication systems which can mitigate the effect of EMI. Experimental validation using IC prototypes confirms that the proposed topologies are capable of transferring the data through wireline communication channels and in the presence of EMI at Gbps speed.
